Gamekeeper’s, mid-Oct 2024 SS
Gamekeepers Cottage is a lovely, peaceful place to stay, with the added bonus of being able to wander in this amazing estate with its beautiful trees, and to enjoy local walks from the door. Jo is a delightful host and goes out of her way to welcome you and make sure you have everything you need for a great stay, as does James the wonderful Caretaker of Tregrehan. The cottage is very well appointed, very comfortable, has a great log burner, and fantastic to have the completely enclosed garden for our two dogs too. Thank you for welcoming us so warmly.
Old Stables, mid-Oct 2024 C&R, Wales
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Old Stables. Jo’s communication was impeccable and friendly. We got badly held up on the M5 motorway and ended up arriving at midnight, but James, the caretaker, had lit a fire for us to make our arrival a bit more ‘cosy’. The gardens are fantastic to explore and the local area is pleasant (apart from St Austell!). We hope to visit again.
Old Stables, 18th Sep 2024 TM, UK
The four of us had a wonderful week. We expected the Eden project to be close and impressive but enjoyed visiting several of the other nearby resorts, sites and restaurants. A useful list of suggestions and maps was provided. The Stables were full of character with a private garden and a balcony area for relaxation. We were treated to a guided tour of the Tregrehan estate by Jo at the start and were amazed. We wish we lived a little closer and could visit again more easily – having travelled from Southsea and Toulouse!
Spry’s, mid–Sep 2024, Barbara, UK
Would really recommend this accommodation, clean and comfortable and as described. Everyone at the gardens were very helpful and pleasant. The gardens were superb to walk around on the Wednesday afternoon. We stayed here for 2 weeks and visited lots of great places, all within 45 minutes of the accommodation.
Coach House, 6th Sep 2024, NC
We were met on arrival and everything was explained, great advice to all the surrounding amenities, lovely clean homely feeling, two wonderful log burners and an abundance of wood, we had a wonderful stay, highly recommend this host and her fabulous accommodation
Gamekeeper’s, late-Aug 2024 Lorraine, Chepstow
Such a lovely place to stay. So peaceful ! The cottage was exactly as described and spotlessly clean. Full of character, comfy beds and one of the best bits… a log burner. Location is so good for exploring all of Cornwall too. We easily got to the Lizard, St Agnes and Padstow… whilst having Charlestown for evening meals a few minutes drive. Definitely will return
Old Stables, 31stAug 2024, Ryan, UK
The area the house is set is so beautiful and quiet. Had the best nights sleep no sound whatsoever. The surrounding area is a must see, the beaches are beautiful but the most see is Charlestown harbour like stepping back a few hundred years ago. When you are in Charlestown the pier house restaurant is a fantastic place to eat. Also the local inn near the house serves great food. We will be back to sit on the balcony- loved it.
Old Stables, 9Aug 2024, Sil, UK
This was the first time we visited Cornwall. It was a last minute booking on Airbnb where we found Jo’s listing for Tregrehan cottages. Although we arrived late due to traffic delays, she had everything in place for us at the cottage. Had also let us know where the nearest supermarket was ,in case we needed anything urgently. The place has an old world charm to it. It is very traditional old English . The best part is the gardens and surroundings. It is really tranquil, peaceful and calm. We were a party of four with 1 OAP and a special needs YP so we had contacted Jo earlier to enquire about the place before booking. And as she described the facilities were adequate for catering to everyone’s need. She also gave us a tour of Tregrehan gardens, which was a hidden gem especially the woodland hike!!. Definitely would recommend it to anyone who would like a bit of old world charm surrounded by the most tranquil woodland and a warm hospitality.
Mews, 7Aug 2024, J&C, UK
We were amused at the welcoming party of guinea fowl who roam freely at the property and The Mews studio is a quirky place to stay set in beautiful grounds which we recommend you explore. Tregrehan garden is tranquil but is also close to local Cornish fishing villages, coastal walks and beaches. The Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are also nearby. We took a lovely walk in the Luxulyan valley and visited one of the local chalk pits. Jo and the staff are very friendly and helpful with suggestions of places to go. There are good supermarkets conveniently close by as are restaurants and pubs. and would loved to have stayed a bit longer.
Mews, 29July 2024, FW, Netherlands
Mews, mid-July 2024, Hall
Delightful cottage. The original features and the furnishings made it feel extra special. I loved the drive up to the courtyard with the sheep either side of the drive, or across it as they were when I left! It is well situated to get to local places of interest. The bed and sofa were both comfy and having a bench outside the front door and table and chairs on the patio were great places to sit and enjoy the mornings and evenings. I would happily stay there again.
Spry’s July 2024, CR
Jo and staff are friendly and helpful. Accommodation was very clean and had all amenities, very peaceful and set in stunning surroundings. A great base for exploring the surrounding area. Would highly recommend!
Spry’s June 2024, Andy
The main object of our visit was to visit famous Cornish gardens – and boy, did we manage that. We hadn’t even realised that we were staying in one too. Even though it was not prime season, the woodland walks and greenhouses were glorious and very interesting. The staff were so helpful Jo was lovely, and advised us of 2 great places to eat As for other gardens, Eden Project very close, and Trebah was well worth the drive to beyond Truro. All in all a delightful week away, obviously helped by mostly good weather!
Coach House, June 2024, CT
Beautiful surroundings, lovely coach house with great log burners. The dogs loved the walks and walled garden. Jo and James were great!

Jo’s place was so charming! We loved the garden area and the drive up to it. The farmhouse was too cute. Slept great. Jo was so friendly and helpful. Hope to come back one day!

Everything you need, plenty of space, possibility to do laundry, beautiful surroundings, rabbits and guinea poultry roam freely in the garden, very nice (not intrusive) hostess, free admission to the Tregrehan Garden, immediate proximity to Eden Project (you could even walk) We stayed 4 nights there and felt very comfortable!
Spry’s May 2024, S
We loved staying at Spry’s cottage. Very cosy, great outdoor space, beautiful gardens we could go to every day. Perfect location for South coastal walks, beautiful harbours, villages. Not far to North coast. Picturesque seaside around. Perfect:)
Old Stables May 2024, DWM
Highly recommendable for a quiet and peaceful getaway, beautiful surroundings with huge monkey puzzle trees and amazing gardens, fields and meadows full of wildlife. A really homely, spacious and cozy converted stables with a lovely big wood burner. Ample supply of kindling and ready cut perfect size longs. Thank you Jo, my crew and myself thoroughly enjoyed our stay
Gamekeeper’s Cottage, May 2024, JL
Absolutely fabby cottage! Jo and James so very kind and helpful. We’ll be back!
Mews, May 2024 G&L C
The Mews is an oasis of calm, situated in the outbuildings of Tregrehan House with its own wonderful gardens, and within easy reach of the coast. Jo made us very welcome and provided helpful advice about the area including information about other gardens nearby not only the Eden project. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and certainly hope to return.
The Mews, Mar 2024, S&M T
This place was a great find. We know the area well and have stayed in lots of places but this is definitely our favourite! The quirkiness of the Mews and the traditional interior furnishings just add to the external experience of being located in stunning grounds with beautiful gardens. Jo is extremely welcoming and helpful. The guinea fowl also greet you daily with their delicate clucking whilst the bats and nesting swallows duck and dive. You can even watch the swallows when showering! As Arnie says, we’ll be back!
Gamekeeper’s Cottage, Mar 2024, DB
This was a very peaceful and relaxing holiday. The weather was mixed but there was plenty to do in the area. The accommodation was perfect for us and the gardens were a real bonus. Our dogs enjoyed the large fields nearby and the free logs for the wood-burner were appreciated. We would definitely return
Gamekeeper’s Cottage, Feb 2024, JG
Jo’s place was a perfect base for exploring the local area, and very cosy for relaxing after busy days. Would love to stay again!
Spry’s, Dec-1Jan 2024, I
Lovely place to stay. Interesting to be on the grounds of a large estate. Still felt very private as you are well away from other buildings. Small and cosy, so perfect for a winter stay. The outdoor areas were nice. And the connected gardens would be great at any time of year. Easy parking, but you are a very short walk away from the entrance to the place. Really helpful and kind hosts.
Spry’s, Sep 2023,N&T
Hi Jo, Thank you for the opportunity to stay at Spry’s. The cottage, the location really were perfect, and our break was everything we had hoped for. And you, and James were such attentive and welcoming hosts. Many thanks for the bottle of white which greeted us at 01:30 and we were so fortunate with the weather. Ironically, the only thing we didn’t get to do for logistical reason was to wander around your gardens on this occasion, but we are planning to return in ’24, and will make it next time by train! Many thanks again for your hospitality and welcome Best wishes
Spry’s, August 2023, MT
Gamekeeper’s Cottage July 2023, A&S
Jo has been a wonderful host, and the place is truly magical. The house has everything you need and is very comfortable, the surroundings are astonishing. Even our pet instantly felt at home. One of our best experiences and a hidden gem
Gamekeeper’s Cottage, June 2023, Bird
The cottage is set in beautiful surroundings and close to all modern day conveniences. Really nice inside with a walled garden which is small dog escape proof. Would 100% recommend.
Coach House, June 2023, MU
We stayed in The Coach House for three nights with four children. About the Property: The property did beat our expectations, the things we liked the most about the property were a) the peaceful and spacious private garden with very nice outdoor seating area to enjoy the birds singing and the sun, b) nice spacious rooms, we were a family of six (four children), still we did not use the downstairs bedroom which had two beds, c) cleanliness of the place, d) spacious kitchen with all the utilities you need to cook (if you wish to) and e) complimentary entry to the Tregrehan Garden (right next to the entrance door of the property) which was a nice add-on About Jo, our host: Jo was very helpful and considerate; she accommodated our check-in very late in the evening and even picked up our phone at mid-night to make sure that we don’t have a problem finding the place. Even on the morning of check-out, she did offer that we could stay until the afternoon if we wished to.
Gamekeeper’s Cottage, May 2023, M&A
It was a very lovely and comfortable cottage. We instantly felt at home. Jo and everybody else were very friendly and gave very good recommendations for visiting the area. Tregrehans Garden was stunning. Thank you so much.
Gamekeeper’s Cottage, April 2023, J&G
Spry’s, April 2 weeks 2023, IO
The Spry’s cottage is a lovely jewel in the middle of a stunning garden. It was the perfect place for me to work from home and relax at the same time. I will definitely come back.
Mews, March 2023, J&J
This was our third stay at Tregrehan but our first in the Mews, having previously chosen Spry’s. With lots of space – not least a generously sized living room – it was easy to unwind, knowing that the glories of the garden were but a minute’s walk away. With its high ceilings and original stabling partitions, the accommodation is characterful, ‘different’ – and comfy. The garden that adjoins the accommodation is private, save for the visits of four friendly guinea fowl who came to see us each morning, and it was a pleasure to take breakfast outside. As the website description states, glimpses of the sea can be enjoyed from the garden, which was true when we stayed (March 2023) which greatly adds to the sense of being ‘away from it all’. And for anyone with reduced mobility, being able to pull up and park right outside the front door is a distinct bonus. The Mews has step-free accommodation throughout, save for a step up into the shower.
Spry’s, Christmas & New Year 2022 Christian
We recently stayed at Spry’s Cottage in Tregrehan Gardens and it was absolutely perfect! The cottage itself is one of a handful of cottages in the beautiful gardens and is perfectly equipped for a relaxing break, as well as stylish and comfortable. The owner was able to help with anything needed and was very welcoming and helpful. The setting is absolutely unbeatable, set in a beautiful forest with the Eden Project a walk away, plus Par Food Market a walk away and a great pub close by which also serves lovely food. Would recommend 10000%!
The Coach House, October 2022 Jan Jan
Holidaying over half term with 3 generations in The Coach House. Excellent communication pre arrival. Everything we needed was there and we quickly felt at home. Weather was mixed as you’d expect at the end of October, but even after arriving back soaked through, we dried quickly with the log burners on both floors (wood is provided free and was such a boon). Lots of “green” touches which we liked, such as the triple lined curtains to retain heat. Children enjoyed the puzzles and games and the safe walled garden was a bonus for them and the dog. Lots of nearby beaches to explore with rock pools and sandcastle making opportunities, all set in the most beautiful of gardens. Have a look round if you get a chance. There are gorgeous views and some stunning plants even in October! The owners are lovely and available if you need them, but not “in your face”. We will be back, thank you so much Jo and Richard.
Spry’s, August 2022 Paul
Had a wonderful time at the cottage. The location is ideal for Eden Project and Charlestown. Beautiful setting surrounded by parkland with huge trees in. There’s a Tesco and Lidl a few minutes away which was handy. The cottage had everything you could need. Comfy bed, good shower, kitchen facilities and a lovely private courtyard which was great to sit down in for an evening meal. Jo was a great host who provided excellent tips about what there is to do in the area…. She also provided some toys for our baby which was nice of her. Would highly recommend staying here.
Spry’s, July 2022 P&J
Brilliant place to stay, big enough for 2, private courtyard to relax in with a meal or just a book & bottle of wine. If weather a bit overcast go to local food market & get a lovely cake or pasty & sit underneath the cover in the courtyard with a coffee. Ideal place to stay, especially if you have a bus pass as bus stops at end of drive. Birds, bats & sheep, a quiet retreat but with lots of great walks & places to visit close at hand.
Mews, 4 July 2022 George
We had a fantastic stay at The Mews, a homely and unique accommodation located in the beautiful Tregrehan garden estate which is super convenient for accessing lots of local attractions, even though we were entirely on foot. Jo was a great host who had loads of suggestions for us and provided everything needed for our stay and more… highly recommended!
Coach House, 4 July 2022 Tim
Just perfect. The Coach House and its fantastic garden, are exactly as shown in the photos. The setting is special, adjoining Tregrehan House (understated, historic elegance) and its garden and grounds. The Coach House itself is very spacious. The lounge is large and comfortable, the bedrooms all a very good size, and the kitchen diner has ample room for 8. Bedding was so clean and crisp. One of my dogs (the sociable one) was lost for a while, having made friends with the resident dogs. The gang ran off together to play and explore goodness knows where – they eventually came back panting and wanting treats. It was hilarious. Jo, as a host, absolutely lovely and popped in to say hello on arrival, although the Tregrehan staff were also on hand, and were so helpful, friendly, chatty people. As if you’d known them forever by the time we left. Not only are the gardens interesting (and extensive – I had to get Google maps out at some point, to get back to the house), but even in the Coach House garden, there were House Martens flitting in and out of their nests, bees buzzing about their business – I mean, just idyllic. Oh, and the 4 clueless Guinea Fowl wandering about near the entrance, not giving a hoot about cars or dogs. Bonkers, and so much fun. Boring stuff: there’s a large Tesco 5 minutes down the road (handy), and Par Beach is a few minutes drive away for an early morning dog walk before venturing of into Cornwall. Tregrehan is going to be my go-to place when I need to visit the area again. There’s just no point looking elsewhere.
Mews, 9 June 2 weeks 2022, D & K West
We booked The Mews and stayed there for two weeks, from the 9th to the 23rd of June. We loved our stay there. It was a lovely place and we felt very comfortable and at home. The old stables were well stocked and everyone was so friendly and helpful. We had our own little garden where we were visited daily by the beautiful guinea fowl.
The location was perfect. We were so close to Carlyon Bay we could walk there and also to Charlestown and the Eden Project, which meant we didn’t have to spend all our time driving.
The gardens were a delight and so well looked after. It’s obvious there is a lot of hard work involved. We were there coincidently for the Hill Climb, which added to the experience. It’s the first time we have stayed there, but definitely won’t be the last. We are hoping to book again later this year.
Thank you to Jo and Tom and all the staff for making our holiday so memorable. The Mews, the weather and the local scenery were amazing. We have fallen in love with this part of Cornwall.
Spry’s, 15 June 2022 J Smith
My partner and I have twice stayed at Spry’s, and in March 23 we are holidaying again at Tregrehan. It’s that special a place. Spry’s was comfy and cosy – ”flash-free” – and with the adjacent courtyard it’s a great place to read, to slow down. The garden is magnificent and it never feels like an ”attraction”, as some do these days. A pleasure to recommend.
The Mews, 2 June 2022 N Man
We stayed for a week at the Mews, its a very charming property – the lay out is close to perfection! I particularly love the high ceiling, well equipped small kitchen and the spacious bathroom. The private back garden is south facing, we”d stay there in the morning before heading out, then enjoyed the indoor wood fire when we got back. Its was wonderful! Jo and her staff was always helpful, we got everything we needed. The freshly cut garden flowers in the vase and herbs in the garden exceeded our expectations. We had a very relaxing holiday, thank you Tregrehan Garden Cottages. We highly recommend it to everyone.
The Mews, May 2022 Peter
Spent a fabulous week in The Mews. The location is great for cycling and walking with safe bike storage provided. Not to mention the surrounding parkland and adjacent gardens. The accommodation itself is full of character – very comfortable and perfectly suited to a relaxing break. The S/W Coastal Path and historic Charlestown are within a 30min walk. One week was not long enough to explore the vicinity so we hope to return.
The Mews, April 2022
We loved the Mews Jo was a great host. Highly recommended
Old Stables, April 2022 Jill
Very relaxing place to stay, with beautiful views of trees and flowers from windows and balcony. We’ll-equipped, warm, lovely fabrics and rugs add to the period charm. Excellent Wood-burner was easy to light in sitting room
Spry’s, April 2022 Michael
I stayed in Spry’s and loved it! It is cosy and has a wonderful feel to it, all in keeping with the history of the estate. If you want shiny and fake, then it’s not for you, but if you want to experience the tradition and a sense of a bygone period, this is the place for you!
Old Stables, March 2022 Keith
Set in a private estate, the grounds are a very pleasant walk, super quiet if you want to get away from it all
Gamekeeper’s, March 2022 Kata
This is such a gem of a place! We didn’t fully appreciate that it sits inside a proper stately home estate, with stunning formal and informal gardens and grounds. The cottage was spotless, Jo an outstanding host, it worked wonderfully for our family of four and the location was ideal for exploring several parts of Cornwall on day trips. Would 100% recommend.
Gamekeeper’s Cottage, March 2022 Deirdre
‘Situated on the beautiful Tregrehan estate, the Gamekeeper’s cottage is a complete retreat. Relaxing, beautifully modern yet very cosy we had the most amazing 10 days stay. On arrival, after a very long drive we were delighted with a welcoming ,warmly glowing wood burner and pleasantly surprised at the unlimited wood for our stay . The location was perfect for access to everything we needed; our son could easily walk from his work experience at the Eden project, whilst we enjoyed many of the tourist attractions in this area with some great recommendations from our host Jo and Dave the caretaker Tregrehan Gardens are simply beautiful we enjoyed walking our dogs amongst the charming Camilla’s and enjoyed the most peaceful walk in the main garden which is nothing short of visionary with it’s incredible environmental contribution Jo and staff were friendly and informative and always on hand to assist and couldn’t do enough to help. One of the best Airbnb we have stayed in, we are totally rejuvenated. We’ll definitely be visiting again. Thank you Jo and staff’
Gamekeeper’s Cottage, February 2022 DC
‘We had an amazing stay and the cottage is so beautiful! Jo was a wonderful host. She was always helpful and checking on us, ensuring that our stay was the best. Our dog enjoyed both the private garden and the surrounding areas. It was easy to find dog friendly places around the area. We worked remotely from there without any issue. The wifi was great. We even had two conversations video calls in parallel at some point.’
Coach House, February 2022, MK
‘Great cottage in great location , full of character and in the middle of all attractions. Host is very helpful and the whole place feels like home. I would recommend for families especially’
Gamekeeper’s Cottage, December 2021 C and G, Bath
’15 visits to Gamekeepers in as many years – you can tell that we really enjoy it. A big, light, warm and welcoming open-plan space, with a great log burner and a well equipped kitchen zone. Then up the first few stairs and you are straight into the lovely private garden, with plenty of space for kids or canine friends or just chilling out on a warm evening. Jo and Tom the owners make sure to welcome you personally, and just driving up through the surrounding parkland is a great way of losing all your stress and strains and relaxing into the perfect holiday.
The location is ideal for Fowey, Heligan, The Eden Project, and both the north and south coasts of central Cornwall. Close to good local shops but great to return to for peace and quiet and the magic of an old Cornish garden. If you have read “Rebecca” you can’t fail to fall for the romance of the setting.’
We love it!

‘Thank you for making us so welcome during our recent stay in the Mews, the old Stables and Coach House. Our whole extended family of 14 were very impressed with the quality of the accommodation. Everywhere was very clean, well decorated and comfortable. The setting within the gardens was a delight as well as the privacy of our individual gardens. We made full use of all the facilities and look forward seeing the plants we bought at the gardens flourish’.
Spry’s, August 2021 Irving, Merseyside
‘We had a super stay at the Spry’s. A lovely week of peace and pottering the local area. The cottage is perfect for a couple. Olde-worlde, quaint with a very pretty private garden. It has another cottage on either side of it but it’s still quiet and peaceful. We are from the north but would certainly travel the distance to stay here again. Thank you. We’ve loved it. S&E!
The Old Stables, July 2021, Harriss
‘More photos on website. They don’t do this spacious, comfortable, charming place, justice!’
Gamekeeper’s Cottage, July 2021 Cia
‘This is such a gorgeous place in a fab location within easy distance of almost everything Cornwall has to offer! The fire was amazing the first couple of nights too when it was pouring with rain (luckily the sun came out after that). It’s in such a beautiful and peaceful area, and has everything you need. I really recommend it and think we’d even come back next time we visit Cornwall!’
Gamekeeper’s Cottage, July 2021 Rose & Bill
‘It’s a perfect cottage, well equipped and comfortable. The bonus was being able to share the grounds to walk our dog. On top of that was a visit to the gardens which are really impressive for gardeners and non- gardeners alike. The whole team on site were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Thank you for the perfect break’
Coach House, June 2021, Justina
“We had a fantastic stay at Jo’s place. Everything was as described if not better – we absolutely fell in love with the garden and surroundings. We had a great time there and the secure garden was a huge bonus for our dogs. Wood burner inside and the fire pit in the garden added cosiness to our evenings and gave us a perfect excuse to buy some marshmallows, yumm! Location was perfect too as we could easily reach any part of Cornwall – Land’s end was just over 1-hour’s drive away. Lost Gardens of Heligan are very close too – so worth a visit, we felt like we were in a totally different world! Overall, very happy with our stay here and look forward to coming back there again!”
The Old Stables, October 2020, Steve
“A warm welcome from Jo and Tom and a great retreat to stay at and use as a base to discover Cornwall. The Old Stables is a cosy well maintained period cottage, within the glorious grounds of Tregrehan Gardens which were a beautiful surprise. Tucked out of the way up the long driveway it is situated in a chilled out setting, but is in easy reach of many of the local beaches, coves, villages and towns as well as attractions such as the Eden Project. We spent 10 days here and this went too quick so hope to be back some time soon. Thanks”.
Mews, September 2020, Pam
“A unique and cosy Mews cottage ideal for two people. Centrally located to visit many places of interest in the area”.
The Old Stables, September 2020 CM & M
“The Old Stables is a cosy haven, set in the midst of a spectacular parkland and botanical garden, a cab ride from the local station and just a stroll away from the sea. In short, paradise. Jo was a fantastic host: all communication was timely, clear, and useful. Jo herself was very welcoming, full of warmth and care and a wealth of local knowledge and treasures. She and the team are clearly working very hard and diligently to keep premises hygienic and deep-cleaned and I had total faith that all steps were being taken for safety throughout. The apartment itself is glorious and even better than the photos would suggest: very spacious, with lots of room for kit while cosy and quick to warm with the storage heaters and especially the stove. The balcony is a real sun trap and the whole place is soaked in the smell of honeysuckle and the sound of the breeze in the high trees around. It felt very private and peaceful. Wandering the gardens is a treat – they’re huge and quietly magical. All the charms and amenities of the area are within easy reach by car, and the housebook which Jo has put together is crammed with fantastic ideas for walks, places to visit and things to do. Best of all, driving off the road up the winding drive to the flat is a real escape from the crowds of Cornwall – you’re in your own world at the Old Stables. The location is ideal for exploring mid-Cornwall and it’s a 40min drive to the north Coast for a change of scene and scenery if ever required. We can’t recommend the old Stables enough – a slice of National Trust grandness and tranquility, at Airbnb value and bless with an energetic and enthusing host in Jo. We can’t wait to come back!”
Coach House, July 2020 Stephen
“The Coach house is a Charming and characterful property and the private garden space really makes it a delight. It was immaculately well presented, clean and well equipped, with everything we needed for a larger family group. The immediate location in the house grounds, gardens and park-lands is stunning and you don’t really need to go anywhere else. If you do venture out then for Sunny days there are lovely beaches near by. If it is not hot enough for the beach, Coastal walks are stunning and the woodland reclaimed industrial revolution landscapes in Luxulyan Valley and Kennal Vale Gunpowder Mills are a delight to explore. We loved Fowey town and exploring the river and estuary in Canoes was a real highlight. With shipwecks, caves and private little bays to explore. Jo was an exceptional host with a difficult balancing act to perform. How to you protect staff and guests against Covid, while still being welcoming and helpful. She coped admirably. It was clear that she had thought long and hard about reopening and followed relevant guidelines. She was very welcoming and responsive throughout, and always ready with suggestions and local insights to enhance our stay. We very much enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend this property”.
Gamekeeper’s Cottage, February 2020 H&J
“We holiday in Cornwall every year and have stayed many times at Tregrehan cottages. This was our first time in Gamekeepers Cottage and we were not disappointed. We arrived on a dismal February day and were greeted by a wonderful fire and golden daffodils. Jo is always really friendly and helpful making you feel at home from the moment you arrive. The Cottage is really well equipped and even has electric blankets on the beds which is fantastic on a cold evening. Our dogs loved their walks in the beautiful grounds. It truly is a magical place with loads of atmosphere and we will hopefully be back soon”.

“Thank you, Jo and David, for another wonderful Winter holiday in the ‘Mews’! We have also loved watching the birds in the garden and on the bird feeders – including a nuthatch! A jay was also spotted, too, just outside the garden! Thank you so much again for everything. With love,

“We stayed for a fantastic break in the Mews accommodation which were very clean, comfortable and had everything you could need. The private garden was great to eat breakfast or to sit outside in the evening enjoying a quiet glass of wine. Lots of fantastic info about things to do from Jo who was a welcoming, great host. We will come again!”

‘The Coach House is a lovely property tucked away in a formal garden. It has it’s own little walled garden making it a very safe spot for dogs and children. The house is lovely and quirky with a high ceilinged kitchen and large sitting room. The master bedroom is also huge. It was all very clean with fresh flowers left for us. It is a great spot for the Eden Project and Lost Gardens very close. We hope to stay again’

‘Jo’s cottage is the perfect place to have a good, peaceful and quiet time. It’s located in the middle of a very big park, no noise at all or maybe only birds around. The garden close to the house, with very old trees is absolutely fantastic. Jo was the perfect host. She gave us a lot of very good tips to visit the country, to find good restaurants etc…we couldn’t expect more for our holidays!!! And I’m pretty sure we will come back with friends next time! I totally recommend this place!!!! No hesitation!’

‘Ideal location for peace and quiet’
This was our second stay at Tregrehan, and we loved it as much as the first time. The Mews cottage is lovely and the grounds of the Tregrehan estate are tranquil and beautiful.

‘The Mews was absolutely perfect for us’.
Our stay was superb. Everyone at Tregrehan was so welcoming and helpful it bowled us over. The environment is just so relaxed and easy and the surroundings very impressive. The actual cottage suited us down to the ground – have to say the weather helped – but the lovely secluded garden was great. When we had a “minor” technical transport problem the sympathetic help was fantastic. Yes, a truly memorable couple of weeks!

‘Comfortable walled retreat’
We loved our stay at the Coach House, comfortable, well equipped property for our group of eight plus two dogs, with plenty of indoor and outdoor space. The pictures do not do it justice. Jo made us very welcome and gave us helpful tips for visiting the area. Easy walk to Eden Project and just a short drive to the coastal path. Would highly recommend staying here.

Had a truly magical stay at Gamekeepers cottage, a beautiful place to call home for a few days. Ideally located near historic Charlestown and the famous Eden Project, we enjoyed some lovely days out as well as hiring mountain bikes, and simply wandering through the idyllic gardens. Thanks Jo for welcoming us and we will definitely be back

‘Charming stay ideally located for so many destinations’
The accommodation was comfortable and Jo was very welcoming and helpful. The gardens to which you have access were a real eye opener with huge trees and views. The Eden project really was a few minutes walk, Charlestown with its historic interest and modern quality restaurants was a few minutes drive. St Austell brewery is a good trip, Polpean and Pentewan beaches and the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Mevagissey and Fowey all just a 20 minute drive or less

The Mews is very homely, comfortable and in a perfect location. Beautiful gardens and 20 minutes walk to the Eden Project. Lots of birds around too – a pair of swallows nesting in the next door building. A great bonus. Jo is the perfect host – all the best touches – camellias from the garden and the wood stove lit for when we arrived. 10/10

Having stayed in well over 100 holiday properties over the last 20 years, I am not easily impressed The Coach House at Tregrehan however was superb. Exceptionally well equipped (my son loved the secret toy cupboard) and conveniently located close to everything one might need (beaches, lovely walks & a supermarket)!
The Coach House has its own large walled garden which is perfect if you have a dog (not even the most athletic dog can escape), the walls are probably over 20 feet high! There is also a huge field in which you can exercise your dog whenever it suits (i.e 7am in the morning with a cup of tea in hand)!
The staff are super friendly and passionate about their work – always happy to chat and provide any info needed – my son loved talking to David.
All in all a fantastic & relaxing place to base yourself – thank you!

“Wonderful location, stunning grounds and gardens plus great accommodation” ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
We stayed at the Old Stables which was a perfect choice for the four of us and can easily sleep six. It felt like home from home with everything we needed for a relaxing few days. Lovely touches from Jo such as fresh flowers, maps and info on what to see and do and even dish washer tablets all made staying here so comfortable.
We loved the walks, beautiful gardens, listening to the birds from the terrace and the visits from the owners dogs. The smell of jasmine whilst having my morning cup of tea was an added bonus.
Eden is just a 15 mins walk away and the Lost Gardens of Heligan a short drive so a perfect location…beaches and the lovely harbours of Fowey and Mevagissey add to the charm of staying here. Thank you Jo and Tom for sharing your home.
Looking forward to our next visit.

“My stay at Tregrehan Garden Cottages was very special – the grounds are timeless, peaceful, and elegant. I stayed in the Mews and loved my outdoor garden space. The Mews was equipped with very thoughtful kitchen items and the bathroom was updated with smart modern amenities. As an added bonus, you’re right on the grounds of the Tregrehan Gardens! I’m keeping this place a secret!”

“What a glorious place to stay!”
Old Stables, May 2017
…It was an unexpected surprise to drive up to the Old Stables past lambs gambling across a Capability Brown landscape. The cottage is comfortable and spacious with everything you need, even a wood burning fire and electric blankets for chilly nights.
The location is excellent for days out, there are several local beaches, The Eden Project is close by and Tesco is just a few minutes along the road.
The Tregrehan gardens are glorious. We enjoyed having exploratory walks and talking to the very knowledgeable staff.
We have already recommended Tregrehan Gardens to friends. I just hope we get in before it gets fully booked next year!

Mews, New Year 2016
We have stayed in The Mews several times over the last six years – a brilliant place to stay at any time of year. It is great if you want to be out and about or just staying in and relaxing – we have done both ! It is very well situated because of its central location but also tucked away in its own beautiful parkland setting. Thank you all so much for everything you do to make our time here so special.

“… the minute we drove through the entrance gates the scenery was spectacular, the cottage itself is lovely and cosy and so picturesque,it has every thing you need with a great kitchen, a lovely en suite bedroom and a cosy lounge, it is so quiet in the grounds and garden we absolutely loved it, it is a great base for eden project being only a mile away, it is also very central to exploring cornwall with the north coast only being an hour drive away and we made it to st michaels mount in an hour as well, jo was so helpful with looking after us including many tips for the area, we even got a personal tour of rhe gardens before we left, we can’t rate this cottage enough, we will definately back in the spring many thanks michael and rosemary”

Thank you so much – we have had a lovely little break away in this charming little apartment. We love the quirkiness of the beams and the bathroom is beautiful. It was a great place for us to easily get to Eden, Heligan and even the beach! We also couldn’t have wished for better weather. Jo and Tom the grounds are stunning and well manicured, you are lucky to live here. I am sure we will be back one day and will be recommending you to others. Thanks again

“So much more than just staying in a cottage”
Guests latest stay April 2015
We have stayed at the Old Stables three times. The reason we bring our family back is because staying at Tregrehan is so much more than just a staying in a cottage: the grounds and gardens make it really special. The Old Stables is great for families. We love the big kitchen diner and spill out on to the terrace for breakfast and early evening drinks. The lounge and and the wonderful wood burner are perfect for evenings. Our two children have a bedroom each and there is space to bring a friend too. And all this was combined with a lovely warm welcome from Jo and her team.

5 of 5 stars Guests latest stay in the Mews May 2015
Have stayed here many times over several years which speaks for itself. The property is as described and is clean and well maintained. There is everything that you need and the owner and staff are always helpful and friendly. It is ideal for two people and the wood burner makes it cosy and comfortable whatever time of year. Within walking distance of the Eden Project and well located for beaches and countryside and other houses and gardens, although will you want to leave the garden at Tregrehan?
“A magical week”
5 of 5 stars Guests early May 2015
We stayed in the Coach House, which was perfect for us. My mother (who has health issues) had her own bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor next to the kitchen. My sister in law & I had our own bedrooms upstairs with a shared bathroom, which worked well. Even though the weather was on the chilly side, we were lovely and cosy with the woodburners, with easy access to the woodstore. The gardens are stunning at this time of year and the walled garden we visited on a number of occasions is beautiful, Richard was extremely knowledgable and obvious he loves his job. Jo made us feel very welcome and made sure we had every thing we needed for our stay. Which I have to say was magical.

“We love it – go!”
5 of 5 stars Guests April 2014
We have just returned from our fourth trip to stay in the holiday rentals attached to these beautiful gardens and the number of repeat visits made by many people speaks volumes about the way people feel about this very special place. I’m only a (very) amateur gardener so I’m sure much of it is wasted on me but I can appreciate the beauty and tranquility of this place. The gardens always feel like somewhere you’re the first person to discover and there are many hidden little spots to find as you wander round. Whilst our daughter was not happy that the swing had been ‘health and safety-ed’ out of existence, she was, as always, more than happy collecting interesting leaves and scaring the wildlife! The houses are equally lovely. We have now stayed in 3 of the 5 properties and each has their own unique charm. They are all very comfortable and cozy; well equipped and have their own outside space to be enjoyed, as well as the communal areas. Jo, Tom and the team couldn’t be more helpful and are on hand to provide lots of useful information on places to go, shop, eat, etc. There are even bikes, scooters and other toys available for the children to play on and it’s safe to let them go and do that. Jo even found a bigger bike for our daughter and Tom supplied jump leads after a bad car day – not many places where that’s all so readily available! There’s loads to do nearby, some fantastic beaches to enjoy, and the Eden project is a short walk away. We love this place and will definitely be returning. If you’re thinking of going, just do it!

What a nice surprise. Have stayed at numerous holiday cottages over the years and this one beats everyone of them by a country mile.
Set in a vast garden, the Old Stables is one of the many cottages that are available for short breaks. What a lovely and well equipped property. Full of character and charm, I would recommend this to anyone.
Jo, the owner of this property was very helpful and full of information of the local places of interest.

“Quiet and relaxing”
5 out of 5 Guests October 2014
We – family of four – had a wonderful time at the Tregrehan estate. Just driving up the beautiful alley in the evening light was a treat in itself.
The Coach house has a spacious living room and kitchen – besides the 3 bedrooms – and charming inner court yard where we had our breakfasts and watched the stars coming out at night. Everything was clean and well equipped.
We had a warm welcome from Jo and found all the information you could possibly want about the area in a well sorted folder.
Tregrehan is close to the sea and a good starting point to visit the popular sites in Cornwall. Beautiful stretches of the cliff path are in easy reach. And don’t miss the beautiful Tregrehan Gardens.

Have just returned (15th) from a 2 week stay in gamekeeper cottage. A very special atmosphere surrounds these beautiful gardens and holiday cottages. Birdsong and a labour of love for a garden that offers peace, stunning views, hidden treasures amongst the trees and flowers. Character and charm in abundance. The staff are so friendly and informative and keen to share their knowledge …. Impossible not to enjoy.
